Notes
Squidge, B, and I took some time to discuss our most anticipated games of 2019, and I think the games we each chose might surprise you.
also, what’s with the Kingdom Hearts story line being super convoluted
We also took some time to discuss the final part in the Shenmue series. Back when the first game came out, it was legendary and game changing
if you’ll pardon the pun
but looking back on the recent HD re-releases of the first two, they seem clunky compared to what makes a good adventure game these days. Remember, the original game was going to be the killer app for the Sega Saturn, and was in development for years
like, since before the Saturn came out
and it, eventually, became a Dreamcast game. That’s a long time for a game to be in development.
We then talk about what tends to happen with late generation games: they tend to be more well produced than the early generation games. And I back that up with some details about what that is – from a developer point of view.
We also took some time to discuss what we think will be the big video gaming new stories in 2019, including: the next gen consoles; whether another console manufacturer join the game; and what’s next for gaming in the living room. B and I think that the next gen of PlayStation consoles will be announced before 2019 is over – especially considering that Sony aren’t going to attend E3 this year.
Maybe Microsoft will announce theirs first, because Sony aren’t going to be at E3
at which point, they could become the new DreamCast
or maybe they’ll wait to see what Sony does.
Between recording this episode and releasing it, I was made aware of a potential new entrant into the market: The Madbox. I still think that it’s always going to be a three horse race, but I’d be interested to see what happens with the Madbox.
Then, of course, there’s Soulja Boy’s attempts at breaking into the console market, too.
Will streaming video games to the living room be the next big thing? Google seem to think that it’s definitely possible. But would we actually want it to happen? What are you thoughts?
What are your top hyped games of 2019? Let us know in the comments.
I also drop the knowledge that I’m thinking of ways that we could stream us playing the Resident Evil 2 Board Game. Keep an eye on our social accounts (and here), to stay up to date.
